NO SNITCHING,
NO SUSPECTS
Community Meeting

In November of 2007, violence had reached near record levels in Newport News. James Fox, the Newport News chief of police, held a meeting with citizens of the East End. The police gave a presentation that centered on blaming the entertainment industry for the culture of no snitching. During the question and answer period it became clear this was not what the people attending were interested in. They wanted reassurance they would be safe if they did help.
